Florists love receiving flowers

I know for most men buying flowers for a florist might be intimidating or it might seem like it would be something we do not wish to receive. Trust me, it isn't so bad and we love them so much that we work with them everyday. Anything that comes from you and from the heart will always be beautiful ( but of course you can score brownie points if you know favorite colours or flowers). Sometimes we are very privileged to take home flowers that are on their way out however, they will never be the same. Just think of the colours she might wear or the style of her apartment and you will definitely be on the right track.

Making a come back

It has been over a year since my last post. I have a backlog of photos and stories like you wouldn't believe. However, it is a new year which means it is time for new beginnings and resolutions. Firstly starting with resurrecting this poor little blog.
With dozens and dozens of weddings and events I'm hoping there are no more dull moments for my dear followers. I think it would only be fair to start this new chapter of this blog off with the most important wedding to me this year, my mother's. Cheers to 2013 and a hopeful promise.

M.I.A in Blogland

I know it's bad. It has been so long since my last post and I am ashamed. I always have a guilty conscience when I don't blog for long periods of time. Things have just been CRAZY. With some of the biggest obstacles I have ever faced in my life I just haven't felt inspired to blog. Enough with my rant though, I decided to treat you to an absolutely delightful little wedding we did recently. Burlap, Garden Roses, a soft palette and rustic venue... how can it get much better. I hope to have another second to breathe in order to catch up with you guys again soon. I miss ya!

Proms For Life

Just stumbled upon this corsage I did way back when it was peony and prom season. All the young men coming in to get their ladies something nice just warms my heart. Not to mention all of the moms that were ordering for their sons... how adorable. Although I am past my prom years I am so delighted to be apart of it every year.

Mixing Pinks

I'm not usually the kind of gal to mix blue based pinks and red based pinks but for some reason this one just clicked. Sometimes when you have colours that bridge to another colour you can pull off anything.

Peony To Be

Finally posting pictures of a little wedding I did. It was just a small ceremony with a bridal bouquet and a boutonniere for the groom. Simple, easy and stunning with no stress. I am going to be mourning Peonies for a little while... at least until Dahlia's are fully in season.

Thelma & Louise

No, this arrangement did not kill a man, go on a crazy road trip or sleep with Brad Pitt. However, it was enjoyed by Susan Sarandon and Geena Davis at the 10 year anniversary of the film. What an exciting day! Hiding in this desert piece are Thistle, Hosta Leaves, Succulents, Air Plants and more!

The Wedding Details

I finally have the photos of the rest of the wedding. I thought I would share some of the photos of centerpieces, boutonnieres and standards that were not shown in my previous post of this wedding. Still loving how unique this wedding was with the bright orange, navy blue and chartreuse green.

Good Ol' Pal Dusty Miller

I LOVE you! You are so soft, delicate and add the perfect tone of grey to any palette especially pale pinks and peaches. I love it so much I have planted it by the bounty in every container on my balcony. It is like a cashmere sweater or as if someone made a web of cotton on a lovely shaped leaf. Truely divine! My only complaint is that it smells exactly how it's name sounds.. Dusty and swampy. Oh well, just mask it with a peony or two and your good to go.

Pot or Vase?

It is a lovely, exciting alternative to use pots as vases. Here are just some of the pros to using a pot instead of a vase:
  •  They provide such a variety of color and texture to break you away from plain clear glass.
  • They are usually cheaper than vases.
  • Once the flowers have lived their life, the pot can then be a permanent fixture in the house accompanied by a plant.
  • The water will never look murky because they aren't see-through. (although you should still change the water of your flowers every couple of days to ensure they live their longest)
Let's spice things up and take advantage of all the lovely little pots out there.

Have To Love Wedding Photographers!

They get such beautiful pictures of our work. It is so nice to get a glimpse at the wedding that you have been planning and working on for so long and it wouldn't be possible without our photographer friends. This wedding was shot by Photos By Tray C and florals of course were done by me and the rest of the floral crew at Sweetpea's. Gotta love a bride who goes for a super unique colour palette of Navy, Orange and Chartreuse. Turned out wonderfully!
